CFL NATIONAL COMBINE [DAY 1 RESULTS]: Laval’s Gagnon leads with 40 bench reps, Noel tops vertical with 36” leap (VIDEO)

TORONTO (March 12, 2016) – In the first day of testing at the 2016 National CFL Combine presented by adidas, Philippe Gagnon led all prospects by completing 40 reps of 225 pounds, which tied him for third all-time at the Combine.

Rounding out the top five in the bench press, four prospects finished with 27 reps: UBC’s Boyd Richardson, Laval’s Jason Lauzon-Seguin, Concordia’s Roman Grozman and McGill’s Devon Stewart.

In the vertical jump, Windsor (CJFL) receiver Llevi Noel topped the list with a 36” leap. Rounding out the top five from today’s vertical tests; Western’s Shaquille Johnson (34.5”), Laval’s Felix Faubert-Lussier (34.5”), Calgary’s Brett Blaszko (34”), Acadia’s Brian Jones (34”) and Kansas Joshua Stanford (34”).

On Sunday, the tests move on the field at the Varsity Centre located in downtown Toronto on University of Toronto Campus. Players will put their speed and agility to the test during 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, short shuttle and broad jump.

Following the testing portion, the players will suit up and participate in individual drills followed by one-on-ones against the other top prospects.
