Cats took two of three contests that were played in the final weekend of the regular season. Up next, the playoffs!!
OFC VARSITY
The Varsity unit concluded regular season play rolling over Brantford 44-14 in the Bell City on July 22nd. Tyson Middelmost led the Cats offence with 141 yards on 3 catches and 2 majors including a 75 yard strike from Connor Carusello. Other Cat’s majors came from Nicholas Petermann, Damian Tessaro and Anthony Abele with a 62 yard punt return. Jacob Patten Bohtelo was good on 3 field goals, 3 converts and added a kickoff rouge. For the Bison, Austin Wagenaar had their lone major with Kevin Cann hitting a 22 yard field goal and a convert and two conceded safeties. Hamilton finishes the regular season at 7-1 tied with Burlington, but lose the tiebreaker on fewer points allowed in the games the two clubs split. Brantford drop to 3-4 and have a make-up game versus Twin Cities on July 26th with the winner advancing to take on Burlington in the playoffs.
OFC JUNIOR VARSITY
The Junior Varsity squad dropped their second contest of the season to the Brantford Bison 38-30. Drake Bodi led the Cats with two scores with single majors scored by Isaiah Reid and Spencer Kennedy. Carter Routledge and Ethan Bastarache added two point converts and Bastarache booted a point after. Danny Bossett led the way for Brantford with two scores while Sean Monohan, Marcus Ash and Myles Maloney crossed to goal line for the winners. Tucker Almert added 5 converts and a field goal to complete the Bison scoring. Brantford finish the season at 6-2 tied with Twin Cities, but lose the tiebreaker as the Predators prevailed 30-6 in their head to head contest. Hamilton finish at 5-3 in 4th position in the South Division
OFC BANTAM SOUTH
The South enjoyed the weekend off after concluding their regular season at 8-0 the previous weekend and 1st place in the division.
OFC BANTAM NORTH
The North unit survived against the North Halton Crimson Tide 16-13 on July 22nd. Jeremy Hicks scored both Hamilton majors while Tristan Fair hoofed a 24 yard field goal and convert. Ryan Treasure and Michael Leduc scored the Tide’s majors while Owen Franco added a punt rouge. The North side clinched 2nd place in the division with a 5-3 mark while the Tide dropped in to a 3 way tie for 4th at 3-5 and were eliminated from the post season based on the head to head meetings with Oakville and Peterborough.
With the regular season complete, focus now turns to the playoffs. The Varsity squad will start things off as they host the Guelph Jr. Gryphons on July 29th at 7:30 pm at Ron Joyce Stadium. The Bantam North side will host the Huronia Stallions at Ron Joyce on July 30th kicking off at 11:00 am followed by the Bantam South squad who will face the Forest City Thunderbirds at 2:00 pm. Junior Varsity will trek to Nelson HS in Burlington at 2:00 pm on July 31st to take on the Stampeders.
