The six teams RSEQ (Quebec Student Sport Federation) will begin on Friday their long journey to the Dunsmore Cup provincial final to be held on 12 November. After three weeks of intensive training, the teams are finally ready for the kickoff of the season. This will start on Friday at 4:30 pm, with the match up between the Concordia stingers and the Redmen at McGill University’s Percival Molson Stadium.
The weekend continues Saturday with a first game that will pit two teams of the Eastern Townships; Sherbrooke University’s Vert & Or will visit the Bishop’s Gaiters. The second clash will take place on the grounds of Laval University with the Rouge et Or hosting the Carabins from the University of Montreal. Kickoff of these two games will be at 7:00pm.
The two clans of the last meet up have also been selected among the top ten teams in the country according to the initial classification of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). The Carabins, champions of the Dunsmore Cup for the second consecutive year begin the season in second place in Canada. The Red and Gold are close behind, occupying the third spot in that preseason ranking.
Football RSEQ on TVA Sports
This fall, TVA Sports will again be the official broadcaster of college football RSEQ. Denis Casavant and Charles-Antoine Sinotte remain the broadcasters, as well as Louis-Simon Lapointe colour commentator accompanied by Mathieu Quiviger as analyst. The TV network also will present a total of 11 games this season plus the Dunsmore Cup. The first game will be on TVA Sports on September 3rd at 7:00pm, from the Rouge et Or and Carabins, preceded at 6:30pm of the Pregame show.
