Thirteen senior/varsity teams participated in an exhibition jamboree at Pineridge secondary school in pickering, ontario on friday. The games started at 9:30 in the morning and ran until 3:00. Teams each participated in 4 controlled scrimmages of approximately 40 minutes. The following is a list of players who stood out on friday.
Richardson
Head coach Greg Shink (McGill redmen football grad) and Jason Romisher (Mt Allison football grad) were happy with their teams play. Three individuals who stood out were #2 RB/DB Dustin Kaupp, #90 LB/FB Jason Harrison, and #32 DE Chad Ramroop.
Markham CFC ‘HM’
Arguably the top team at the jamboree, the defending metro bowl champs open up next saturday versus Huron Heights aT their homecoming. Players to watch are DE/RB Lucas Cristavao, LB Braedon Harris, REC/LB Connor Pritty (PICTURE), REC Aaron Gordon, OL/LB Kyle Lees, OL Preston Baird.
O’Neil
Star performers on the day were #44 LB Taylor Zak and #70 LB Nick Doner.
Uxbridge
Coaches Josh deHeus, Ron Sutherin, and Richard Clark like their team this year. The stand out players on friday were DB/LB Chris Gladney, QB Matt Wood, FB/LB Matt Robillard. Not there friday but should be a player to watch this year is Lucas Gillham.
Sinclair
Players of the day for sinclair were Andrew Downer, Jay McBridge, and Scott Burford.
Ajax
Coaches Brad White, Derek Rushton and Phil Mazzoachi are looking forward to a big year. Players that impressed on friday were Josh Beach (REC/QB) and Mike Danson (OL/DL).
Trenton
Duncan Armstrong brought his bay of quinte team down the road to compete in the jamboree. Players to watch are Craig Deck REC/DB, Carl Hassenberger RB, Taylor Robertson QB, and Albert Cormier OL/DL.
Dunbarton
Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Christina Lyons and Defensive coordinator Thomas Hopkins are optimistic about the 2010 campaign. Players who impressed on friday were Marco Mertsis DB/REC, Roynelle Meredith DB/REC, Ryan Colvin OL/DL, Ronnie Clark DB/TE, and Kirk Regan QB.
Dennis O’Connor
DOC returned to football in 2008 fielding a junior team that year and in 2009. In 2010 DOC is fielding one varsity team to compete in Durham Tier 2. Head Coach Ben Martel will be looking for big things from Darrien Arscott LB/FB, Jesse Chafe LB, Connor O’Hara LB, Gavin Jordan OL/DL (sick on friday) and Brendan McPherson RB.
Bradford
Traveling down from Simcoe county, Bradford stand outs included Justin Howell REC, Tanner Griffin RB/LB, Nick Zander REC/LB, and Prett Jhandi DE/TE.
Paul Dwyer
Arguably one of the better teams at the jamboree. Impressive performances were put in by Jake Raddford RB/LB, Tony Flannigan REC, Eric Kimmerley QB, Danny Cabarle DL, Clinton Sharpe LB, and Joe Noreiga DB.
Mayfield
Head Coach Peter Zubchinsky (ST FX football grad) brought his peel region team to durham on friday. Solid performances were put in by Kevin Bremner QB, Colin Borley DB, Kahlua Thompson DB, and Jake Hogan REC / RB.
