Vancouver Island coach moves to NCAA to coach the Yale Bulldogs

The Vancouver Island Raiders are going to have some big shoes to fill. Defensive Line coach Bryan Wyllie is leaving the Vancouver Island Raiders for greener pastures with a Defensive assignment with the Yale Bulldogs. Wyllie will continue his duties until it is time to say good bye to the Raiders and move on to the Bulldogs. Wyllie can bring some National Championship experience to the table, having won 4 National Championships with 2 different teams. He has also produced multiple all-Canadians and all-stars at defensive line.

Yale is second in the nation for total wins and was looking for someone to help with the obtaining the Conference Championship, which the Bulldogs haven’t been able to grasp since 2006. Wyllie joined the Raiders in 2008 and helped the Raiders win 3 of their 5 straight Conference Championships. He is a great coach and a better friend.

If you were to ask players to sum up Wyllie in practices or in games, that word would be Intense. He is the type of coach who is going to tear you a new one if you screw up in the slightest way. Countless times you could see Wyllie in practice tearing a D lineman apart because he took one step too high or too low. But, then worked and worked with him to fix it and turned players into all Canadians. Wyllie has helped to produce some of the finest players to come out of the CJFL including CJFL Defensive Linemen of the year Josh “J Dubs” Williams, CJFL Defensive Linemen of the year Brad Chamberlain, BCFC all-star Nick “The Woz” Woznesensky and Canadian bowl Defensive MVP Greg Akinola to name a few.

The Raiders wish Bryan the very best with his new opportunity and on a side note, after finding out the news receiver Andrew Smith was quick to ask ” who is going to yell at everyone all the time?” Wyllie response, was well perfect as always stating; “It’s called a calling card”. The Raider players and coaches are going to miss him not only as a great coach but also as a close and dear friend who will be deeply missed truly a one of kind. Good luck Wyllie you will always a part of the Raider family.
