For four seasons, Ryan has played for the Markham Raiders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). Moreover, the wide receiver has suited up for the past three seasons for his high school team, the Bill Crothers Colts of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA).
Most recently, the Colts standout has been selected to the GTA Current Stars team that will participate in the all-star game at McMaster University on May 6th.
During his football career, Ryan has experienced some special moments; however there is one in particular that is the highlight of his career.
“It was blowing out an undefeated Burlington team and scoring two touchdowns in the game,”says Ryan.
Off the field, there is no rest for the Colts wide receiver as he continues to work hard in his goal of becoming a elite offensive player.
“I love being in the gym or on the field just getting better,” explains the offensive standout. “I am starting to finally put on some weight which is such a struggle but just being committed to the diet I’m on now has increased my results.”
As for main influences in his life, Ryan says that his parents have made the strongest impact.
“My mom doesn’t get to see me play because she lives overseas but I feel like she’s with me when I play and that gives me strength,” adds Ryan.
While laying football for as long as possible is one of his long term goals, the Colts wide receiver would like to continue his academic studies beyond high school.
“As for school, I’m going into the social science field,” comments the offensive star. “I’m not really fixed on what to study, but this way I’m giving myself variety so I can see what interests me.”
The one key thing Ryan has learned from the gridiron is that playing on a team equates to being part of a family.
“You’ll do anything for your family,” says the Colts offensive standout. “Playing football, I’ve always felt that my team is a big family; maybe not socially off the field but I would do anything for them on the field such as throwing a huge block, catching a game winning touchdown or playing with a dislocated shoulder.”
“Anything to make us successful.”
Overall, Ryan hopes to pass on what he’s learned to his younger brother.
“It just translates to one of my two brothers, who is starting to play football this year,” explains Ryan. “Teaching him everything I know, making sure he can have the same success I did and helping him pick up the game faster.”
