The Carleton Ravens continue to add to their growing coaching staff by once again landing a coach who most recently coached with the Ottawa University Gee Gees. Chris Coulson, who was the Gee Gee offensive coordinator the last 7 seasons, will be working with the Ravens effective immediately. During Coulson’s tenure at Ottawa U the offense was prolific, producing top QBs Josh Sacobie and Brad Sinopoli.
When reached for comment Coulson had this to say:
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join Coach Sumarah and the Carleton football program. It’s clear that their program is committed to a structure that will allow them to compete with the top programs in the country. It’s difficult to leave over a decade of coaching with the Gee Gees, but I’m excited at the direction that the ravens program is taking, and am looking forward to contributing to their success.”
Carleton just hired JP Asselin as the Offensive Coordinator so Coulson’s role will be to assist Asselin and work specifically with the Offensive Line.
Carleton Head Coach Steve Sumarah has this to say about the new hire. “Having someone of Chris’s knowledge and experience on the staff will compliment JP in building a first rate offense. Chris is well known and respected and having him coach the offensive line is vital to our success”
It was reported that Ottawa U had offered the ‘interim head coach’ position to Coulson but the Gee Gees could not match his teacher compensation. This is the 4th Gee Gee coach to leave the program since January.
