Quarterback Kyle Graves (6’3 220 – Barrie, ON) has signed with the Montreal Alouettes and running back Brett Haenni (6’1 230 – Midhurst, ON) was picked up by Edmonton Eskimos. These signings are on the heel of Jake Thomas (6’2 275 – Douglas, N.B.) being taken in the fourth round, 29th overall, by Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Head Coach Jeff Cummins had this to say about his players:
“We are extremely excited and proud of both Kyle Graves and Brett Haenni as the get an opportunity to fulfill their dreams of playing professional football. They have given Acadia some great years and we hope that their experiences within our offense will enable them to make the jump to the CFL. With these last 2 guys being signed we total 5 Axemen [Mike Squires (6’4 215 – Halifax) Toronto, Reed Alexander (6’1 260 – Barrie, ON) Edmonton, Jake Thomas Winnipeg and now Brett and Kyle] from this year’s AUS championship team who’ve signed CFL contracts for 2012.”
Brett Haenni said this about the signing. “I am very excited about the opportunity of going to the Eskimo’s training camp. It has been a goal of mine for a long time to play in the CFL, and I look forward to the challenge.”
