OVFL Preview: Junior Varsity Bucs aim for further development in 2012

The Newmarket Bucs Junior Varsity team is looking to fight back following a season full of adjustments and new experiences for the newest OVFL franchise.

Last season the Bucs posted a 1-7 record and allowed the third most points in the league. However, the program is heading in the right direction after merging the Newmarket Storm and Newmarket Bucs to establish a unified football community in the city.

Furthermore, the franchise’s bantam team posted an impressive 2011 campaign that saw them come within a tiebreak of the playoffs. With a promising season of development under their belts, the Bucs will now look to compete and start winning more games.

Coach Jim Mancuso supported the power game last year, but he didn’t have the players to execute. Nonetheless the program has a very good house league program that feeds the Bantam level and so on, thus the barn is full of capable players and the franchise is ready to start reaping the benefits of a tough transition into the OVFL.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
