OVFL: Varsity Wildcats start season off strong with dominating Week 1 victory over Newmarket

Coach Frank Panos’ team was hoping for a hot start to the year, but nobody in the organization could have predicted such a convincing win Saturday. The Wildcats scored early and often, blanking the Newmarket Bucs 50-0 in week one OVFL action.

Metro clearly had their mojo going from the start and could have added two scores had they not been called back on penalties. The running game was clicking on all cylinders the whole game with RB’s Marvin Gaynor and Travis Jennings combining for three touchdowns.Due to the lack of depth on the opposing side, the Wildcats were able to wear down the Bucs by grinding out yards on the ground on offense and with several impressive defensive stops.“We were able to wear them down by forcing some 3 and outs and sustaining drives on offense” recalled Head Coach Frank Panos. “We knew they didn’t have much depth” he added. The team’s first real test this season comes this Saturday as the Wildcats face the always dangerous Toronto Thunder at 2:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
