This past Sunday the Junior Varsity Sarnia Sturgeon started out their 2012 season campaign on a high note with a 32-22 victory over the Burlington Stampeders (’97). Opening up the season with a win on the road is a good sign of things to come for the Sturgeon.
The team looks to keep steadily improving on offense and spread the ball around to the various weapons that they have at their disposal. Despite giving up 22 points the Sturgeon remain confident that their defense is on the right path and will only get better as the season goes on.
This Sunday June 3 at 1:00 p.m. the Sturgeon will host the Hamilton Panthers in their home opener. In the meeting last year between these two teams the Sturgeon won the game 24-7. The Sturgeon and the Panthers have a rivalry growing between them especially after a brawl took place between the two teams last year.
Come to Norm Perry Park this Sunday to watch the Sturgeon and the Panthers play to see who will come out victorious.
