Furthermore, the defensive star has suited up for the Teal Team of Regina Minor Football and has represented his hometown province as a member of Team Saskatchewan’s under-17 and under-18 squads. As a result, he participated in the 2010 Football Canada Cup that was held in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and experienced the highlight of his football career in the process.

“My most memorable football experience was playing in the Football Canada Cup in Nova Scotia,” comments Keegan, who’s also been a participant of the Senior Bowl as a member of Team South. “Winning the final game and being national champions really topped it off.”

Among the honours and accolades the defensive standout has received include Impact Player of the Year (2011), Special Teams Player of the Year (2009, 2011), Moose Jaw Scoring Champion (2011), and Moose Jaw Punting Leader (2010-2011).

Next season, Keegan will move on to the University of Saskatchewan as he’s recently committed to the school. The reasons for choosing the school are quite simple.

“I mainly chose the University of Saskatchewan because it is where I have always imagined myself going,” explains the future Huskies player, who’s been accepted to the College of Engineering at the school. “I have family in Saskatoon and many friends on the team and in the university.”

“Then, there is the whole Huskie football side of it which really made me make the decision.”

There are many individuals that have played an instrumental role in Keegan’s success on and off the field.

“The most influential people in my life are my family, especially my parents,” says the defensive standout. “They do everything for me; letting me not have a job so I have more time for athletics and school has to be the biggest thing.”

“Everyone of my coaches from peewee till now have all taught me something different that has helped me through football.”

Away from the gridiron, Keegan is also an accomplished track and field star. To excel in this sport, he trains a couple of days a week with the Excel Athletika Track and Field Club. Moreover, he’s been a member of the 2011 WCSG track and field team based out of Kamloops.

Equally successful in this sport, the student athlete holds many records in the 100 metre, 200 metre, triple jump and long jump categories in Moose Jaw. Additionally, he has won the Overall Aggregate Award, which is the most accumulated points every high school year at the city, district and provincial levels. Keegan hopes to continue on in the discipline at the University of Saskatchewan.

Consequently from the game of football, Keegan has found the recipe for success, which he uses in all of life’s endeavours. He will continue to use it as he gets set to move on to the University of Saskatchewan.

“Football has taught me a lot about responsibility and hard work,” says Keegan. “If you train hard, stay out of trouble and just do what you need to do, good things come your way.”

“In the end, it all relates back to life.”
