This past Saturday the Cambridge Lions were in Brampton to visit the Bulldogs, “I thought it was a great team effort.” said Head Coach Anthony Maggiacomo of the big Lions win. It is true that the Lions had big plays come from all aspects of the game. The Lions had some players that did not get to play much in Guelph, step up and become major contributors.
Cambridge jumped out to an early lead, scoring three touch downs in the first half led by Quarterback James Roberts who threw all three touchdowns for a total of 260 yards. Running Back Daniel Bougie also had a big game with over 100 rushing yards along with Wide Receiver Eric Cusimano who made four catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns including a 109 reception for the 26-0 lead. Offence was helped along by the special teams who gave them great field position all game, they also stopped a 4[SUP]th[/SUP] down fake punt attempt by Brampton in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] quarter.
The Lions defence was in excellent form especially in the second half to preserve the shut out. The defensive team was working like a well oiled machine, playing selfless with everyone buying into the system to shut down the powerful Brampton Bulldog’s offence. Credit should be given to each individual for an excellent game.
It was a well balanced game with each player doing their part to get the win. The Brampton team put in a great effort but on this day it was the Lions who came away with the victory.
