OVFL: Varsity Riders continue to dominate early in season
The Ottawa Myers Rider varsity squad continues to have early season success. Riders QB Nick Gorgichuk is having an unbelievable campaign, leading the league in QB Rating with a touchdown to interception ratio of 17 to 1. Runningbacks Jacob Legault and Jonathan Cimankinda have combined for better than a 9 yard per carry average.
This weekends match up versus the Toronto Wildcats at Minto field saw the riders come out strong and score early and often. Within the first two minutes of the game the Riders capitalized on Wildcat turnovers and went up 14 to 0. Before you could blink it was halftime and the Riders held a comfortable 42 to 17 lead.
The aforementioned Gorgichuk finished the day with 6 touchdowns (1 INT) and 390 yards passing. Cimankinda had over a 100 yards rushing.
“We came out strong but let up a bit. We were moving the ball really well and we played a lot of the roster” said coach Max Palladino. The final score was 56-31 for the Ottawa Myers Riders as they continue their winning streak.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
