2013 Wilson Challenge preview: Focused Metro

The Montreal Metro under-15 team have some reasonable goals the team would like to achieve at the 2013 Wilson Challenge Cup.

“We are, of course, aiming to be in the final game for a third time against Quebec’s Elites,” explained Montreal Metro Head Coach Dominique Juliani.   “However, I strongly believe in taking it one game at a time.”

Juliani has been involved with the Wilson Challenge for the most part of seven years.  As a head coach he knows and understands what it will take for the Metro to meet their goals and has ensured the team remains focused with the task at hand. While it hasn’t been an easy road for the team, they are confident in the style of play they will bring to the field.

“We expect to have a hard hitting team,” commented Juliani.  “Our group is homogenous and doesn’t really rely on superstars.”

“It’s primarily due to problems we’ve experienced during this year’s selection camp. Consequently, we concentrated on a hard working team and prepared them for tight games.”

The Metro will have three quarterbacks spearheading the offensive unit.  Those pivots are Sam Cloutier, Ettore Cassati and Marc-Olivier Reinhardt.  One thing to watch for on this unit are the connections between Cloutier, running back William Marchand and receiver William Blanchette.

Defensively, the Metro will depend on tackle Malik Iahens, defensive back Dante Campbell and linebacker Laurent Pelletier to provide leadership on the unit.

Ultimately, Juliani is proud of the team the coaching staff has assembled for this year’s tournament.

“This year’s edition should be interesting since the players have shown us great work ethics,” added Juliani.

Montreal Metro begins their 2013 Wilson Challenge journey today as they get set to play the Maurice Estrie Centre du Quebec.  Kickoff is 5:30pm.
