2013 Women’s World Football Championship will not be held in Canada

Football Canada regrets to announce that the 2013 Women’s World Football Championship will not be held in Canada in 2013. The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) the governing body for international football made the decision to seek another host city based off hosting requirements not being met; there will be an announcement by IFAF on the new location of the 2013 Women’s World Football Championship once confirmed.

Football Canada continues to prepare for the worlds with several female initiatives for the 2012-2013 seasons which include the hosting of the 2012 Women’s Challenge Cup in Montreal. This senior women’s event is being used as the initial identification process for the Canadian National Women’s Team for the 2013 IFAF Women’s World Championship.

We are looking forward to 2012 -2013 season with the first national event that will bring women together from across the country for tackle football, the identification process of our 2013 national women’s team as well as the youth female football initiatives taking place throughout the season.
