Dual success

OFC:  Junior Varsity and Bantam Wolverines advance to OFC Championships

The Peterborough Wolverines had dual success this past weekend in Ontario Football Conference (OFC) playoffs.

Both the junior varsity and bantam teams won the Mike Ramsay Conference titles and will travel to Burlington this upcoming weekend to play in the league championship finals.

This past Saturday, the Junior Varsity Wolverines cruised by the North Halton Crimson Tide 49-21.

At halftime, the Wolverines only enjoyed a slim 28-21 lead over the Crimson Tide.  In the second half, the Crimson Tide were held off the scoreboard, while the Wolverines strengthened their lead and never looked back due to the solid play of running back Donnie LaFonte.

Overall, the junior varsity team has a 10-0 record:  8-0 in the regular season, 2-0 in the playoffs.

Now the team will face off against the Burlington Stampeders at Nelson Stadium in the OFC Junior Varsity Championship Final on Saturday August 10th.  Kickoff is 1:30pm.

Meanwhile, the bantam Wolverines shutout the Oakville Titans 37-0 this past weekend to advance to the OFC Bantam Championship Final.  They will face the stiffest challenge of the season, as the team will battle the Burlington Stampeders on Saturday August 10th at Nelson Stadium.  Game start is 10:30am.  The Stampeders handed the Wolverines the only loss of the season in Week 1.  The loss has motivated the Wolverines as they’ve won nine consecutive games going into the OFC Bantam Championship.

CFC will be live streaming all three OFC Championship games from Burlington on Saturday August 10th.
