OVFL: Bantam Ravens advance to Adams Conference Finals
The Bantam Essex Ravens are one step closer to a championship title.
This past weekend, the bantam squad got by the Hamilton Ironmen 20-14 to advance to the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) Adams Conference finals.
Early in the first quarter, the Ravens struck first as quarterback Brandon Leach connected with Duncan MacLeod for a 55 yard touchdown score to put the team up 7-0.
At halftime, both teams were tied 7-7 after the Ironmen’s Zeke Margaritis ran into the end zone for a five yard major.
In the fourth quarter, the Ravens regained the lead thanks to Jacob Savoni’s three yard touchdown.
Again ,the Ironmen responded back as Margaritis scored his second major of the game – a 27 yard touchdown to put the team ahead 14-13.
In the end, the Ravens prevailed as Leach took to the ball into the end zone for a 17 yard score.
Ravens kicker Josh Susko was successful on two conversion attempt as was Xavier Masotti of the Ironmen.
On Saturday August 10th, the Ravens will host the Niagara Spears in the Adams Coference Finals.
