The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the “BC Lions Players of the Week” for Week 2 of the 2013 season.
The Kamloops Broncos recorded their first point of the new season after a 29-29 tie in Chilliwack in Week 2. One of the reasons the Broncos had success offensively was the play of the BC Lions Offensive Player of the Week, receiver Devin Csincsa who would make seven catches for 172 yards and score a major.
Saturday night the Okanagan Sun and Vancouver Island Raiders would play in a hard nose, defensive battle, as just 20 points were scored between these two rivals. The Sun were led by the BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week, free safety Jack Rush. The second year player made seven tackles, one assisted tackle and made his first interception of the year returning it 16 yards.
Like the Broncos the Valley Huskers also recorded their first point of the season with the 29-29 tie on Saturday. Kicker Dan Erickson would set a new Huskers record connecting on five field goals, the most in one game. His only miss of the game came from 52 yards out, but would account for the only Huskers scoring in the fourth quarter. He would also compile six kick offs for 302 yards, an average of 60 yards. His efforts would name him the BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week.
Week 3 in the BCFC will have a full slate of games highlighted by a rematch of the 2012 Cullen Cup final in Nanaimo. The 2-0 Langley Rams will visit the 1-1 Vancouver Island Raiders on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm. At the same time the 2-0 Okanagan Sun will travel to Westshore for a battle with the 0-2 Rebels. The night cap will feature the tail end of a home and home as the 0-1-1 Kamloops Broncos will host the 0-1-1 Valley Huskers.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
