The Clarington TigerCat peewees traveled to St. Catharine’s in Central Ontario Minor Football League peewee division action, losing a very well played game 44-14.
The score did not tell the true story of this game. The TigerCats played extremely well on both sides of the football. Niagara is the dominate team in the division putting up 40 to 50 points against all teams they have faced this year.
The TigerCats had rushing touchdowns from Blake Fraser and Grant Campbell. They also had a long rushing touchdown by Dylan Lintlop called back due to a holding call. Evan Thomas kicked the converts.
The defence was solid throughout the game led by some amazing tackles on the Niagara star slot back who scored five TD’s and blocked for Niagara’s other scores. The defence controlled the line of scrimmage all game, putting great pressure on the Niagara Storm, including Ryan Campbell, Steven Nieuwhof, Dante Clephan, Juliano Provenzano and linebacker Benji Hickey. The TigerCats also had some amazing play stopping tackles on the outside by Blake Fraser and Matthew Bateman.
