NCAFA: East Ottawa’s Mark Webb sets club record

The upstart South Ottawa Mustangs lead by captains David Lafreniere, Austin Howard, Aidan Wallace-Blackett and Klaus Paqout continued their improbable run with a fourth straight victory 26-6 against the defending champs the Cumberland Panthers. Majors were scored by Avery Williams, Paul Kabemba and Lesean Wilson. Hunter Nicolitsis, Matt Melanson and Wesam Nassir were key defensive stalwarts

It was a full team effort in the Bell Warriors 26-0 win over the Brockville Buccaneers. Alex Miles on offense scored his 1st TD of the year. Ethan “the big rig” Morissette also contributed to the scoring with 2 TD’s. The Warriors defense pitched it’s second shut-out of the year and also had a record 7 turn overs including 2 interceptions.

Leo Bak and Carter Seipp led the blocking for a long Pat Clarkin TD run in the Bel-Air Lions 47-13 loss to the Myers Riders. Grady Pratt and Logan Carty had many tackles for the Bel-Air defence.

The Kanata Knights rolled up 251 yards on the ground as they beat the Nepean Redskins 27-12. Yanis Iloki had touchdown runs of six and eight yards for the Redskins.

 

Mosquito

A solid defensive effort with 2 pick 6’s by John Lubemba and Nathaniel Lawlor as the Bell Warriors defeated the Brockville Buccaneers 34-0. The Warriors offense was led by Jake Papalia who ran for one TD and threw for 2 touchdowns to Jake Miles and Daniel Briere.

Strong defence led by Andrew Goodman, Clarissa Davisdon, Gaby Castillo, Colby Harkes-Fortin, and Rabiy Djilani held the Myers Riders pointless in a Bel-Air Lions 35-0 victory.  Special teams had a kickoff touchdown by Max Wong.  The trench battles had strong blocking by Matthew Goodwin, Markus Olivieri, Wesley Tshimanga that led to a big day for Bryce Russell, the Lukussa brothers.

The Nepean Redskins clinched second place in the West Division with their sixth shutout win in eight games, beating the Kanata Knights 32-0. Haven Holder had 187 yards rushing on 15 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of four, five and 61 yards. Holder also had a 72-yard kick off return for a touchdown. Zendai Joseph kicked three two-point conversions.

The Cumberland Panthers Mosquito Team capped off an undefeated season and Eastern Conference Championship with a 44-0 win over the South Ottawa Mustangs. The defence continued its dominance with its fifth straight shutout and the offence was balanced with over 100 yards passing and 150 yards rushing. Special teams played a large part with over a 125 return yards and one touchdown

 

Pee Wee

Despite a solid effort, inconsistent line play leads Myers Riders to a 26-8 loss against the Bel-Air Lions. Defensive backs Wei Du, Alex Strong, Brad Trick and Carm Urbani shut-down Bel-Air’s passing game while running backs Thabiso Bakelaar and Mitch Lawson worked hard together in the Riders’ run game.

Cumberland Panthers finished the season undefeated, securing the Eastern Division Championship. The regular season wrapped up against the South Ottawa Mustangs, finishing 63 – 6. Bradley Pichette had a great game, with 4 touchdowns. Reid Ferry also had a strong game achieving 3 touchdowns, while Duncan Hladik and Sahil Sharma each had one. Zachary Batal was successful with all 9 PAT’s.

With five starters out of the line-up with injuries, the depleted Nepean Redskins lost a 21-20 thriller to the Kanata Knights. Honoreal Iloki rushed for 162 yards on 17 carries and had touchdown runs of 47 and 40 yards, as well as a 71-yard kcik-off return for a touchdown.
