Ontario (Ottawa) NCSSAA Playoff Preview Tier 1 and Tier 2

Tier 1

Games today (October 30) for tier 1 NCSSAA football are irrelevant to next weeks playoff match-ups:

Tuesday, November 6

St. FX (1) will play St. Matthew’s (4)
St. FX is just too dominant, 30-0.

St. Peter’s (2) will face St. Mark’s (3)
I see St. Peter’s pulling away in the 4th quarter, 21-10.

The winners of those games will play for the tier 1 championship Saturday, November 10th @ the Nepean Sportsplex.

If I was a gambling man, I’d bet on St. FX to take home the hardware against St. Peter’s in a lopsided 27-6 championship victory. I love November.

Tier 2

Tier 2 kicked off the first round of playoffs yesterday:

Monday, October 29

Game A – St. Joe’s 44 vs. Garneau 0
The Jaguars end Garneau’s season with a route and move on.

Game B – St. Patrick’s 16 vs. Glebe 15
St. Patrick’s pull off a nail biter. Glebe’s defensive unit gave up the most points during the regular season (152) but gave their team a chance in this one.

Game C – Holy Trinity 27 vs. Immaculata 22
Trinity pulls off the upset against Immaculata. They hope to continue their late surge late into November.

Game D – Bye for Franco Cite

Thursday, November 1

Game H – Mother Theresa @ Franco Cite
Both teams are coming off byes. 32-17 Franco Cite.

Friday November 2

Game E – St. Patrick’s @ Colonel By
Their last meeting was a close one, 22-20 in favor of Colonel By. Should be another exciting performance. I think St. Pat’s use the momentum of their last win to upset Colonel By in the rematch. 20-14.

Game F – St. Joe’s @ Sir Wilfred Laurier
St. Joe’s might come in overconfident after a blowout win against Garneau. Sir Wilfred Laurier sends them packing, 28-13.

Game G – Holy Trinity @ St. Pius X
Holy Trinity plays a little banged up after a tough win against Immaculata. SPX takes advantage and rolls to victory 37-6.

Wednesday, November 7

Winner of Game E vs. Winner of Game H

Winner of Game F vs. Winner of Game G

*Home field to higher seed

Championship Saturday, November 10
