It’s been over a decade since the Carson Graham Eagles last found themselves atop the BC High School Football mountain but they could reach those heights again if they manage to cap off an incredible campaign with a win over the No. 2 ranked John Barsby Bulldogs.
The Eagles got one step closer to their first title in school history since winning the AAA championship in 2001 when they stunned the defending AA champions South Delta Rams last week with a 28-21 victory. Seldom-used tailback Lucas Bill played a huge role in the contest recording four touchdowns.
But while the Eagles – coming off a 9-1 regular season – might feel like it’s their destiny to come away with a championship, the Bulldogs have just as much claim to the same after posting an identical regular season record to the Eagles.
The Bulldogs nearly squandered a 26-13 lead en route to a 34-27 win last Saturday in the semi-final but managed to engineer a late comeback even without star TB Brandon Parker, who had four touchdowns in the game before leaving with a knee injury.
The comeback was the good news. The bad news is the Bulldogs will have to try and come up with a win this Saturday without the services of Parker.
John Barsby knocked off Carson Graham 21-0 back on October 25 in a battle of two teams that had perfect records on the season up to that point.
