Royce Metchie chooses family feeling
Metchie joins the Guelph Gryphons after a successful career at St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton Ontario.
Head Coach Stu Lang had this to say about the newest addition to the Guelph recruiting class, “Royce, in addition to being a very talented football player, is a soft spoken, focused, dedicated and always positive person who will add to our standard of excellence.”
Royce’s athletic accomplishments include playing for various all-star teams as well as suiting up for Canada’s Junior National Team this summer, where he and the team will travel to Kuwait to play in the IFAF World Championships.
“Every school I looked at, they had great programs and all but the one thing that brought me to Guelph the most is that they have that sense of family, the family feeling they have here is like none other,” explained Royce when asked about his decision.
“Royce is a physical menace on the Football Field. Besides having great athleticism, Royce loves contact and was one of the top DB’s we had on our board for 2014,” commented Kevin MacNeill Defensive Coordinator for the Guelph Gryphons. “We wanted to get bigger in the Secondary this year, and Royce and Team Canada teammate Nick Parisotto bring the size and skill we were looking for.”
The Gryphons hope Royce makes an impact early in his career on the football field.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
