The Junior Varsity Cambridge Lions opened their season last week with a gruesome 57-7 victory over the Etobicoke Eagles, satisfying Head Coach Gary Skalos.
“We executed very well on both sides of the ball last week against Etobicoke,” said Skalos. “We have a couple things to clean up on special teams which we’ll address this week, but over all I was real happy with our team.”
This week, the Lions take on the Brampton Bulldogs, who also started their season with an impressive win. Skalos says more intensity will be needed for a winning streak to develop.
“Brampton appears to be a very good football team so we’ll have to kick it up a notch this week,” added Skalos. “They like to run the ball about as much as we do, so our focus and game plan will be to try and shut down what they like to do,”
The Lions will hit the road for the first time this season Sunday, June 1st to take on the Bulldogs. Game time is 5:00pm at Chingcousy Park.
