For the second year in a row, CanadaFootballChat.com brings you the National High School Previews and Predictions. Each week, we will preview the must see games of the week province to province and provide a prediction of the outcome.
BRITISH COLUMBIA:
WJ Mouat Hawks at New Westminster Hyacks
Friday September 12th, 7:30pm, Mercer Stadium
After a convincing 46-13 win against Robert Bateman in their exhibition opener, the W.J. Mouat Hawks (EX: 1-0) will look to go to continue their winning ways in the exhibition campaign by knocking off the New Westminster Hyacks (EX: 1-1) at Mercer Stadium.
The Hawks will look for leadership from Jacob Dodd, who scored five touchdowns last game, as well as several up-and-coming players in Slater McRae, Reuben Reardon and Dion Pellerin on a team that debuted nine new starters on offence and eight on defence in last week’s game.
The Hyacks, whose exhibition season began with a trip to Texas followed by an 11-6 win over the Centennial Centaurs, will need a repeat of their strong defensive performance from last against one of the league’s most dangerous offences while also looking to match fire with fire on offence.

ALBERTA:
CFC #13 Salisbury Sabres at Bellerose Bulldogs
Thursday, September 11, 6:00 p.m., Riel Field, St. Albert
Two games in a row against ranked opponents is a heck of a way to start a season but the Salisbury Sabres seen to be up to it. After a squeaker against the Harry Ainlay Titans, the Sabres will now visit the St. Albert Madhouse that is Riel Field where the Bellerose Bulldogs do a great job of garnering fan support. As for the Bulldogs, this is a program that has been proverbially knocking on the door for the past few years and now may be in a position to take the next steps and kick that door down. The Sabres will be a great test and it should be must see football in St. Albert this Thursday.

SASKATCHEWAN:
Balfour Redmen at CFC # 4 Leboldus Golden Suns
Thursday September 11th, 5:15pm
In a battle of undefeated squads, the Balfour Redmen will visit CFC #4 Leboldus Golden Suns. The last time these two teams tangled was just over a year ago and the Golden Suns emerged with a 42-14 victory.
Two CFC 100 players will be front and centre for the Golden Suns – quarterback Chan DeCiman and receiver Kade Belyk will both be the offensive catalysts.
PREDICTION: Leboldus Golden Suns 32, Balfour Redmen 20
MANITOBA:
Dakota Lancers at Grant Park Pirates
Thursday September 11th, 5:00pm
Both the Dakota Lancers and Grant Park Pirates are teams that are trying to assert themselves in a very tough John Potter Division.Moreover, this has the makings of a David versus Goliath matchup.
The Pirates are the smallest school playing in the division, Last month, Head Coach Doug Kovacs commented that the Lancers could emerge as a surprise team this season.
“Dakota plays great defence and are physical at the point of attack,” said Kovacs.
As for the Lancers, a CFC 100 player and recent University of Manitoba commit will be the marquee player in this game. All eyes will be on defensive end Derek Dufault as his impact will dictate the game.
PREDICTION: Dakota Lancers 24, Grant Park Pirates 21
ONTARIO:
CFC # 50 Westdale Warriors at Waterdown Warriors
Friday September 12th, 7:00pm
In the battle of the Warriors, CFC#50 Westdale will travel to face rivals Waterdown. The last time these two teams met was October 2013, and Waterdown got by Westdale 37-27.
With that in mind, Westdale is coming into this game battle ready. Mitch Garland (quarterback), Christian Sirko (receiver), Andrew Pacheco (linebacker), Moshuir Mobarak (offensive line), James Reader-Lemoine (offensive line), Tyler Lamb (offensive line) and Nathi Zamisa (offensive line) will all be expected to lead Westdale.
PREDICTION: Westdale Warriors 30, Waterdown Warriors 23
CFC # 42 Holy Trinity Titans at Nelson Lords
Friday September 12th, 7:00pm
One of the traditional match ups in Halton Tier 1 has the Nelson Lords hosting CFC # 42 Holy Trinity Titans. Back on September 23rd, the Titans eked out a 19-16 win.
The Lords haven’t forgotten about it and look to settle the score with the Titans this time around. Head Coach Jeff Brock told CFC earlier this month that he expects the Titans to be one of the strongest teams this season in a very difficult Tier 1 Division.
“Holy Trinity has the best quarterback prospect in the Ontario and is loaded with talent across the board,” commented Brock.
Sam Lewis (wide receiver), Drake Bowie (wide receiver), Patrick Spelman (offensive line), Stefan Duric (quarterback), Evan Catania (slotback), Aidan England (linebacker), Zach Hoffner (linebacker), Ben Cowman (defensive line), Tyson Delic (defensive line), Cole Henderson (defensive line) are all returnees who will play an integral part in any success the Lords will have in this battle against the Titans.
PREDICTION: Nelson Lords 20, Holy Trinity Lions 17
QUEBEC:
CFC # 6 Cure-Antoine-Labelle Wolves at CFC # 33 Saint Jean Eudes Condors
Saturday September 13th, 2:00pm, Saint-Jean-Eudes
In a game pitting two CFC 50 teams, the Cure-Antoine Labelle Wolves put their undefeated record (2-0) on the line against the Saint Jean Eudes Condors (1-1). The last time these two teams met less than a year ago, the Wolves cruised to a 35-14 victory. However, the Condors are looking for redemption this time.
For the Wolves, Mathieu Renault will be one to watch. Last week, Renault scored two touchdowns and racked up 139 yards on seven receptions (average of 19.9 yards per reception) in the Wolves 42-7 win over Seminaire Saint Francois Blizzard. Pivot Benjamin Pierre will jumpstart the Wolves offense and is hoping to build on his performance last week – 14 completions in 21 attempts for 219 yards and five passing touchdowns. Jeff Carpentier and Clarin’s Edouard will be expected to anchor the Wolves’ defense’.
Gabriel Brault will be the offensive catalyst for the Condors as he amassed 119 rushing yards and scored a touchdown in the Condors victory over Academie Les Estacades. Mathieu Savard is coming off the heels of an impressive defensive outing last week where he registered eight tackles.

NOVA SCOTIA:
Lockview Dragons at Sackville High Kingfishers
Sunday September 14th, 4:00pm, Met Field, Sackville
A Tier 2 matchup, the Sackville High Kingfishers and Lockview Dragons reignite a traditional rivalry. The last time these two teams met was exactly a year ago and the Kingfishers came away with a 33-6 victory.
The Kingfishers opened their season with a 49-6 thumping of the Sydney Academy Wildcats while the Dragons lost their first game of the year, 36-5 to JL Ilsley Judges.
Jalen Loppie, Tyrrell Young and Tyler Robichaud will be looked upon to provide the Kingfishers offensive output. Each player tallied two majors.
As for the Dragons, they are on the hunt for not only their first win of the NSSAFFL season, but finding ways of getting more points on the board.
PREDICTION: Sackville High Kingfishers 35, Lockview Dragons 10
NEW BRUNSWICK:
CFC # 48 Fredericton Black Kats at Riverview Royals
Saturday September 13th, 1:00pm, Riverview
In one of the most highly anticipated rematches of the year, the defending 12-Man Champions Fredericton Black Kats will travel to Riverview to battle the Royals. This is a rematch of the 2013 NBHSFL Championship, where the Black Kats earned a 38-31 win over the Royals.
The Royals will be looking for retribution as the team will still be feeling the sour aftertaste of the championship loss. However, the team suffered a first week loss to Mathieu-Martin Matadors 31-27 and will seek to bounce back in this game.
Meanwhile the Black Kats hope to gain another win and inch one step closer toward a three peat for the provincial championship. Last week, the Black Kats opened their campaign with a 30-6 victory over the Oromocto Blues. Defensive back/running back Travis Branscombe, lineman Travis Carson and linebacker Alexander Amos will lead the Black Kats.
