The two time defending champions earned their second straight win to start the season 2-0 after beating the London Beefeaters at home while both Ottawa and Hamilton collected wins as they shut out Grand River and GTA.

Windsor vs London

The Windsor Fratmen hosted the London Beefeaters Saturday night in their home opener for the 2015 season. While the Fratmen were coming off a win in Hamilton, the Beefeaters were opening their season on the road after a first round bye.

The first quarter started slow for the Fratmen, but as they picked it up in the second London wouldn’t be able to put up any kind of fight as they managed just a single field goal.

As for the Fratmen they managed to find the end zone quite easily. Llevi Noel was the first to run one in with a 103-yard return. Erik Lovis followed with a pick-6, and before long Josh Wright returned the ball for 80 yards and another Fratmen touchdown.

Although the Fratmen took the game 39-3, Windsor had just one touchdown for the Offense that came from running back Cody McCann.

The Fratmen are back on the road for week 3 as they head to Ottawa to take on the Sooners who are now 1-0 after shutting out Grand River. London will host Grand River who are also 0-1 after being shut out in their season opener. The Beefeaters won’t get another shot at the Fratmen until week 8 when they host Windsor.

Ottawa Sooners vs Grand River

The Ottawa Sooners opened up their season on the road against the Predators and took a nice victory home with them.

The Sooners had a total of 232 yards on the ground, which includes all four of their touchdowns. Both Dechaun Beats and Dechaun Beats would run in two touchdowns a piece for Ottawa. With the help of Kicker Andrew Bangerjee the Sooners shut out the Predators 32-0 to start their season.

The Sooners will host the Fratmen on Saturday at 7pm while the Predators take on the Beefeaters.

GTA vs Hamilton

The Ottawa Sooners weren’t the only ones to earn a shut out this weekend as the Hamilton Hurricanes headed to GTA to take on the Grizzlies in their second game of the season. Hamilton was coming off of a tough loss to the AKO Fratmen while the Grizzlies were coming off of a loss to the Braves.

Hamilton had four different players make it into the end zone as Shawn Ward, Jonathon Mataya, Michael Brown, and Andrin Masotti all put up a touchdown for the Hurricanes.

Mataya threw for 208 yards on 10 completions with two touchdowns. Although the Grizzlies weren’t able to get on the board, their defense was putting in work as they picked off Mataya three times. Jordan Ribiero returned one for 81 yards while Lamar Mclean returned one for 52.

Hamilton wasn’t the only one throwing interceptions as GTA’s quarterbacks threw a total of 5. Out of the 5, just one was returned for a touchdown, which came from DB Michael Brown.

Hamilton’s 30-0 win over the Grizzlies brings them to 1-1 so far this season. The Hurricanes won’t be too far from home as they head to Burlington for week 3. As for the Grizzlies they’ll have a week off before they’re on the road to take on the Predators in week 4.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
