The Hawks all-time leading rusher, and the holder of six Laurier rushing records, broke one of his own against Mac, with his rushing performance breaking the school’s single game rushing record to lead the purple and gold to their first playoff victory since 2010.

DEFENCE: Austin Reusch (Burlington, Ont.) –4th yr. – Laurier
Laurier defensive back Austin Reusch helped shut down the potent McMaster offence on his way to OUA Defensive Player of the Week honours.
The 6-foot-0, 194 lbs Reusch collected 2.5 tackles, but provided great coverage all day against a tough McMaster receiving core, which was highlighted by a key breakup in the endzone on 3rd and 10 late in the 4th quarter that sealed the victory for the Golden Hawks.
The fourth-year business major led the defence in limiting the second highest scoring team in OUA to just 15 points (averaged 44.4 during the season)
Reusch and Laurier will need to have another performance like that when they take on Western, who is the highest scoring team in CIS history.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Michael Domagala (St. Catharines, Ont.) – 3rd yr. – Carleton
Carleton kicker Michael Domagala has been named OUA Special Teams Player of the Week after helping his Ravens to the programs first playoff victory in recent history over the Queen’s Gaels by a score of 39-8.

The Calgary Dinos capped off a perfect 8-0 regular season Saturday with a convincing 64-28 win over the Alberta Golden Bears and as usual, quarterback Andrew Buckley and kicker Johnny Mark played starring roles.
Thanks to their efforts over the weekend, Buckley and Mark are the Canada West offensive and special teams players of the week respectively, while Saskatchewan Huskies defensive back Vince Greco took home the Week 8 defensive award.
Buckley, who tossed 463 yards against Alberta to end the regular season with 3,162 passing yards and set a new CIS single-season passing record, has now won the offensive player of the week award four of eight weeks.
Along with Buckley, Mark has also won his respective conference award four times, after adding to his own CIS career records for points (535) and field goals (91) in Calgary’s league finale.
For his part Greco completed his rookie Canada West regular season in style with an interception and fumble recovery in Saskatchewan’s thrilling 38-37 win over the Regina Rams. The victory kept the Huskies playoff hopes alive, with Alberta’s Saturday loss officially sending the Sled Dogs to the Hardy Cup Playoffs.
All three weekly award winners are in action Saturday, November 7, as the Road to the 79th Hardy Cup opens with Saskatchewan heading to the Stampede City to take on the Dinos.

OFFENCE – Andrew Buckley

Calgary, AB
Playing in the final conference game of his brilliant U of C career, Buckley passed for 463 yards, including a mind-boggling 410 in the first half, to set a new CIS single-season record with 3,162.
Needing 437 yards on the day to shatter the previous national standard of 3,136 yards set last Saturday by Ottawa’s Derek Wendel, the reigning Hec Crighton Trophy winner moved past Wendel with a 49-yard touchdown pass to Rashaun Simonise 93 seconds into the third quarter, and was taken out of the game after the scoring play which made it 41-7 Dinos.
Buckley, who was selected by his hometown Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round of the 2015 CFL draft, ended up completing 20 of 27 passes for three touchdowns and his first interception of the season to finish the campaign with a remarkable 19-1 TD-to-interception ratio and a Canada West-record 72.0% completion percentage (177 of 246).

The Calgary, Alta. native recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter, returning it to the Regina 22-yard line. The turnover set up a Huskie touchdown, fuelling the Saskatchewan comeback effort.
On the final play of the game, Greco was there to end any chance of last second heroics by the Rams, intercepting Noah Picton’s pass as time expired. Greco added 5.5 tackles from his defensive back position.
SPECIAL TEAMS – Johnny Mark
Calgary Dinos
Kicker
6-8, 185, 5th-year
Peterborough, ON
Mark, playing in his final conference game, kicked four field goals to tie the CIS single-season record of 26 established a year ago by Guelph’s Daniel Ferraro. The 2014 CFL draft pick matched Ferraro’s standard thanks to a 39-yarder with 4:19 left in the contest.
With 19 points against the Bears, the native of Peterborough, Ont., also set a CIS season mark for kickers with 144 points, breaking the previous record of 130 set two years ago by Western’s Lirim Hajrullahu.
Mark’s 144 points are good for a tie for third place on the overall CIS list, trailing only the 150 points by StFX’s running back Paul Brule in 1967 and the 148 points by Ottawa running back and kicker Neil Lumsden in 1975.
Mark also added to his own CIS career records for points (535) and field goals (91) in Calgary’s league finale.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
