The Manitoba Bisons are pleased to announce the second football commitment for the 2016 season is offensive lineman Anthony Daley.

Bison football head coach Brian Dobie, in his 20th season with Manitoba, enthused about Daley. “I’ve known Anthony since he was 16 years old and have watched him develop into a great football player as he moved from Winnipeg to continue his progression with the Langley Rams of the CJFL and his apprenticeship with the BC Lions practice roster. We feel that in signing Anthony we have signed the best available center in the nation.

Daley, 22, just completed his junior football career with the Langley Rams of the BC Football Conference (BCFC) and finished with several awards and national recognition at the center position. Over his four year junior career, the Winnipeg native was CJFL All-Canadian honours in 2012, 2013 and nominee for 2015 plus also selected as the BCFC’s top offensive lineman award for two consecutive seasons (2012-13). In addition, he earned the Langley Rams’ Leadership Award in 2014.

Daley is a graduate of J.H. Bruns Collegiate and played for the Greendell Falcons of the Midget Football League of Manitoba. Daley has spent the last three seasons as a territorial protection of the CFL’s BC Lions, training with the practice squad in Vancouver, and has twice participated in Spring Camp with the Bisons.

The Bison staff is very excited about their latest signing. “Anthony is an accomplished player that has a strong familiarity with our program,” said Offensive Coordinator Vaughan Mitchell. “His tenacity, experience, and intelligence will help him fit in and challenge for a starting position right away.” While Bisons football recruiting coordinator Chris Clement commented. “Anthony is an excellent offensive lineman, and a local player we have been following for the past several years as he has excelled in the BC junior league. His addition strengthens what we already feel is one of the top lines in the country.”

Daley is looking forward to taking the next step in his football career. “I’m really excited to move home and be a Bison after five years of being away. I can’t wait to be a part of the winning culture at Manitoba.”

Bison Notes: Earlier in the 2015 season, offensive lineman Aarmin Purewal was the first signing for 2016. Daley joins sister Alyssa at the University of Manitoba as she finished her third season with the Bison women’s soccer program
