Brantford recruit ecstatic to don SMU uniform (VIDEO)

Brantford running back joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

Tristan Almas has found a home away from home.

Recently, the 5’9, 175 pound running back from Brantford, Ontario committed to Saint Mary’s Huskies.  Almas will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

“I committed to Saint Mary’s because their school and football program felt like home,” expressed Almas.  “The school is basically new and everything is connected, except for the gym.”

“During my visit I really bonded with some on the players on the team and also enjoyed the beautiful city of Halifax! A great coach for the Brantford Bisons, Kelly Ireland, I knew coached for Saint Mary’s and the Bisons season did nothing but get us closer. Halifax is a smaller city as well which I personally like a lot, and I can’t wait to put on that Huskies uniform for the first time!”

The offensive standout has played for both the BCI Mustangs of the Brantford County Secondary School Athletic Association (BCSSAA) and Brantford Bisons of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

“We are extremely happy to add a student athlete like Tristan to the SMU football family,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese of Almas’ commitment.
