CFC OFC (JV) Game of the Week Preview: Bouncing back after heartbreak

The junior varsity Toronto Jr Argos lost a heartbreaker this past weekend to the North Halton Crimson Tide 17-16.

Marred by questionable calls including a game-deciding rouge, the Argos rallied in the second half to keep Halton from scoring any points.

“We are extremely proud of our guys,” said Head Coach Carlo Trentadue, “It’s just a testament to the resilience and perseverance of our team.”

Quarterback Jonas Hatcher was under pressure the entire game but was able to connect with Zakai Quintyn for a momentum changing touchdown. Daniel Diodati provided an offensive spark late in the game.

The defense was lead by big-hitting safety Ryan Orct and linebacker Berkay Furat.  Both turned in solid game performances.

This weekend, the Jr. Argos will turn their sights on rival Peterborough Wolverines this weekend.

Last season, the Jr.  Argos played the Wolverines three times, including a playoff loss. The Wolverines ended up losing the OFC Championship Final to the Burlington Stampeders.

“They are a tough, well-disciplined team,” said Trentadue, “They have great execution and we will try to throw off their timing.”

The Jr. Argos will get their opportunity against their rival in this weekend’s home opener, Sunday June 1st at 2pm at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
