Weyburn reaches the summit after a wild week of football shakes up the top ten.

Quebec
- Upset alert. In this week’s edition of “Anything can happen in November” we’ve got Estacades shocking Dalbe-Viau in a 27-20 upset to book their ticket to the Juvenile DII Bol d’Or. Dalbe-Viau entered this contest undefeated at 9-0 while outscoring their opponents 376-91 – including an early season matchup where they dismantled Estacades 38-10. A lot can change in a couple months, and Estacades was able to get their revenge by running the ball down their opponent’s throat with Mathias Milette and Loic Robichaud combing for 351 yards and four touchdowns. This Aigles squad now have a special opportunity to end their long championship drought dating back to 2012 when they defeated Saint-Jean-Eudes in the Juvenile 1-B Bol d’Or.
- While we didn’t have an upset in the other semifinal, we’re not sure many people predicted Saint-Joseph smothering College Laval 48-14. The Vert et Or are now the only undefeated team left standing with a 10-0 record that includes a 30-7 victory against the Aigles – but after watching Dalbe-Viau crash out in flames – we don’t think the coaching staff needs to remind them that their winning streak will mean nothing when they lineup against Estacades. Saint-Joseph will have the chance to rewrite their program’s championship history after losing in the 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2010 finals.

Saskatchewan
- Introducing your new number one program – the Weyburn Eagles. More importantly, they are once again the 5A Provincial Champions in Saskatchewan after asserting their dominance in a 35-14 win over Aden Bowman. It’s an emphatic exclamation mark on a stunning season where nobody even got a whiff of success with the Eagles outscoring their opponents 370-91, and their closest margin of victory was 17 points in their preseason game against CFC50 Grant Park, who made it all the way to ANAVETS Bowl in Winnipeg. Weyburn have now won two of the last three 5A Provincial titles, and will be throwing around the word “dynasty” next season as they strive for back-to-back championships for the first time in school history.
Manitoba
- It was supposed to be the perfect ending to a perfect season for Beaver Brae, but Fort Frances decided to spoil the party with a 30-14 victory to claim the first ever WHSFL AAA Championship. We were expecting a much closer battle – especially when you consider that Beaver Brae won their regular season matchup 22-15 – but this day belonged to the Muskies who stormed back after trailing at halftime scoring 17 unanswered points to secure the trophy. This was the first ever all Northern Ontario championship bout in the WHSFL’s history, and the first title for Fort Frances since 2019 when they won the DIII Canad Inns Bowl under the old format.
CFC PROSPECT GAME/CFC SELECTION CAMP NOMINATIONS
Alberta
- Beware of the Lightning. Hunting Hills are off to the Tier II North Championship after hammering St. Joseph 33-14 in the quarterfinals. It’ll be the third time the Lightning have made it to the Tier II semifinals, but they’ve never been able to crack the code and go all the way. This time around they’ll have to find a way past a tough squad from Austin O’Brien, who may not have the greatest record on the rankings since they compete in the highest division in Edmonton, but they are always a threat when it comes to the Provincial Playdowns. The Crusaders are looking to make their third Tier II finals in four years, and will be hunting down their first title since 2013 when they completed the hattrick.
- In the South Championship we have a highly anticipated matchup between the defending Tier II champions Holy Trinity Academy and Cochrane. These are two of the most successful programs in recent history with Holy Trinity Academy making four straight Tier II finals appearances with a pair of victories, and Cochrane winning 13 Tier III titles in 15 appearances from 2002-2021 before trying their luck in the Tier I Regional Based Playdowns last season where they lost by one point in the finals. While logic might dictate that the Knights are the favourites, we know you can’t count out the Cobras in November when it matters most.
British Columbia
- Holy Cross escaped a close call in their Wild Card matchup with a 13-6 win over Argyle. They’ll need to step their game up this week with a daunting matchup against John Barsby in the quarterfinals. The winner will potentially earn their chance at redemption against Robert Bateman, who delivered the Bulldogs and Crusaders their only losses of the season. Of course that’s if Windsor doesn’t change the script first.
Ontario
- While history said it was inevitable, it was still a crushing defeat for Lo-Ellen who couldn’t hang with CFC50 St. Mary’s in the NOSSA Finals falling 23-6. It brings a bitter end to a fantastic season for the Knights, who were named the kings of Sudbury for the third straight year with an undefeated 7-0 league record.
