Bryson has been playing football for seven years, beginning his career with the peewee East Side Eagles. He moved on to play for the Kildonan East Reivers of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).
In seven seasons of play, Bryson has received two “MVP” Awards as well as multiple Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year Awards.
As for the highlight of his career thus far, it isn’t a single game or championship.
“Practices were always a highlight for me,” says Bryson. “Just having and developing a special team bond is something that I look forward to every year”.
Bryson has always dedicated a significant amount of his offseason to improving his game and preparing to eclipse the standard set from the previous season.
“This summer, I have focused on eating right and keeping my body healthy; primarily working on three things: speed, power, and acceleration” adds Bryson. “I plan on being an explosive player with good size at the next level.”
Family has always played an integral role in Bryson’s life.
“Family is what is most important to me,” says the Reivers standout, who has a lot of respect for his parents. “When they tell me they are proud of me, that’s something I love hearing and do not take for granted.”
Besides family, Bryson’s coaches have players a major part in all the success he’s enjoyed on the gridiron.
“I’ve had different coaches through the years, and I loved playing for every one of them,” says Bryson.”They always treated me like I was one of their own I guess and I consider myself fortunate to have had such great coaches every year”.
Once he finishes high school, Bryson plans on attending a trade school with the career goal of becoming an electrician. However, if he is able to gain the attention of recruiters this upcoming season, he would certainly consider altering those plans and playing at the CIS level.
The flexible standout has yet to focus on the recruitment process; however, he would love to play at the CIS level as long as it’s close to home.
“Recruitment has not been a key priority right now,” explains the Reivers standout. “I’m a family guy so I would prefer playing where my family is – either in Manitoba or Alberta”.
You only get to go through this process once.”
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
