Gee-Gee chemistry

Souriel Delva Williamson also gave up playing football to focus solely on his academic future.

However, the Ottawa Gee-Gees gave him enough to reconsider his life on the gridiron.  Consequently, the 6’3, 250 pound defensive end/tackle from Montreal, Quebec has committed to the OUA team for the 2014 season.

“It was a tough decision considering that I almost gave up football to focus on my studies but they’re giving me a great opportunity to focus on school and on football,” expressed Delva Williamson.  “They have an amazing Strength and Conditioning Program and the exact educational program I was looking for during the offseason.”

“Finally, they have a great head coach in James Barresi, who has a lot of experiences and coached at lot of places including in the NCAA.  It’s a program that just gonna get better and successful and they have a tradition and the coaches they know that tradition because most of them were Gee-Gees and that’s a proof of how much they loved their time here.”

Academics, atmosphere and team chemistry were additional reasons why he chose the Ottawa, Ontario campus.

“I chose Ottawa is for the academic reasons; it’s a great school, one of the biggest universities in Canada and their department in social sciences is very good since I’m going into a major in criminology,” added Delva Williamson.  “Plus, I wanted to be far from home for once (but not too far) and the University of Ottawa fits well.”

“The campus lifestyle seems pretty awesome at Ottawa and the thing that I appreciated the most during my visit was the team chemistry.  That is something I had when I was at Vieux-Montreal and this is something really important in football in my opinion.”

Previous to joining the Gee-Gees, the Quebec defensive standout played for CEGEP Division 1 team, Vieux-Montreal Spartiates.
