The Huskies add an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.
After much deliberation, Cody Holmes, a wide receiver from W.F. Herman Secondary School, decided his future lies in the east, more specifically, with the Saint Mary’s University Huskies.
While there are many perks to living on the east coast, the one that caught Holmes’ eye was more architectural. “I chose SMU because I like the campus. It’s connected. The whole campus is one large building,” he said.
Holmes, who is from Windsor, Ontario, said he was also impressed with the resume of the head coach, James Colzie III. He added that, “The coaching staff at SMU is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the game. They have a lot to offer me as a player trying to play at the highest level possible.”
Standing at 5’10, 180lbs, the potential business student played with the W.F. Herman Griffins (Winsor Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association). The former MVP is a five-time WECSSAA champion, a three-time South Western Secondary School Athletic Association champion and a three-time OFSAA champion. He has also played BGB 7v7 football where he won two Michigan State championships.
