How football has shaped DB Conway’s life

Nick Conway finished his 2016 season recording 33 tackles, 4.5 special team tackles and one sack as a defensive back for the Dakota Lancers.

Two reasons why Nick chose to play defensive back are because you’re not dependent on anyone else on the field, and you’re able to fly around and make plays.

The young Lancer has modeled his game after the NFL’s Darrel Revis. Nick mentioned, “I model my game after defensive back Darrel Revis because he is a very physical and lock down corner that likes to help out on the run.”

At the moment Nick doesn’t have any future school or football plans, but he would like to play football for as long as he can.

Nick has been talked to a few schools that would like to recruit him, but nothing too crazy as of right now.

We asked Nick what his top three schools of choice are, he doesn’t have a list but is open to go to any school. Staying close to home would appeal to Nick.

“I believe that the hardest thing to adjust to in the next level will be the speed of the game and the size of the players,” said Nick. “But with proper training and time management I know I can make the jump.”

To continue to take his game to the next level, Nick will work-out with Lamar McGriggs at Strive in the weight-room, and do workouts on the field. Nick is also a member of Recruit Ready.

Nick’s brother has been very influential towards him in his football life. He’s the one that got Nick into football when he was young. Nick’s brother now plays for the Manitoba Bisons.

Football is part of Nick’s identity. “It is something that I think about all of the time and is something that I love to do,” proclaimed Nick.

Over the years football has greatly shaped Nick’s work ethic. Football has also taught Nick that nothing is handed to you.

Nick concluded, “It’s taught me that a good work ethic is one of the best roads traveled to success in football and in life.”
