Judge tosses out arbitrator’s ruling in Williams case

STONEY CREEK, ON – The Decision of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court in relation to the matter involving the Canadian Football League Players’ Association, Chris Williams and the Hamilton Tiger Cat Football Club was released by the Court today, August 29, 2013.

The decision of the Arbitrator was quashed and set aside on the grounds that the letter purporting to exercise Chris Williams’ option was not clear and was not capable of being construed as a clear communication of an intention to exercise the option.

It is the position of the C.F.L.P.A. that Chris Williams is now a free agent and able to sign a contract in the N.F.L. or with another C.F.L. Club.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
