NCAFA (Ottawa): Week 7 recap

The National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) completed a very busy week as they enter the final week of the regular season.

Tyke
Myers Riders clinched first in the west with a 52-6 win over the Bel-Air Lions.  The Riders’ were lead by strong performances by veteran running back Isiah Moran-Weekes and QB Dawson Larwill. The defense was lead by YahYa Yusef and Natale Frangione. Logan McGrath scored a TD on a fumble recovery.
In a Gloucester South Raiders loss to the Orleans Bengals, Shane Cabral led a deternined Raiders’ defense while the offense was led by the hard-running Bradly “Bradozer” Peters. Nicolas Casiple and Robert Bright impressed while filling in for missing O-linemen.
The Bell Warriors had a tough game-long struggle against a solid Kanata Knights squad but came up short losing 32-13. The running attacks by both teams were strong with Trey O’Brien scoring both of Bell’s TD’s on long runs.
The Cumberland Panthers wrapped up the East Division Crown in week 7, by keeping their undefeated and shutout streak alive with a 63-0 win over the South Ottawa Mustangs. The Panthers were led on offence by Fabrice Mukendi and Markayden Nelson who combined for 9 touchdowns. The denfence was once again led by linebacker Darious McKenzie, who punished the Mustangs offence with devastating tackles all game long.
North Gloucester Giants beat the Cornwall Wildcats 24-6. Giants offense led by Zach Hill, Emmanuel Mando and  Jonah Delisle, led the way. The Wildcats made a strong come back in the 2nd half but the Giants defence led by Donavon Narcisse- Bell and Saxon Rheaume and Jeremy Enyeka stepped it up to stop the Wild Cats.
The Gatineau Vikings topped the East Ottawa Generals 39-13.  Mark Webb and Noah Porter McLennan provided the scoring for the Generals.
Mosquito
The Gatineau Vikings defeated the East Ottawa Generals 41-0.  The Generals got great 2 way play from Dominic Boulianne, Alexandre Jones and Adam Douglas.
The West Carleton Wolverines travelled to Brockville and defeated the Buccaneers 50-0. Quarterback James Scott directed the Wolverine Offense to over 250 yards on the day. RB Emma Van Wyk-Kucharik had a big day for the Wolverine offense scoring 3 TDs. The West Carleton Wolverines Defence smothered their opponent’s offense for the second straight game. Blake Thompson lead all Wolverine defenders with 9 tackles, Jamie Smith had 8 tackles for the victors as well as an interception to snuff out a Brockville Buccaneer drive.
Avery Clayton had one TD rushing along with two through the air to Madison McLean and Adam O’Connell as Myers Riders overcame a 26 point half time deficit to defeat the Bel Air Lions 30-28. Carm Urbani and Brodie O’Connell had a strong second half defensively to shut out the Lions in the comeback.
The South Ottawa Mustangs got the game rolling with the first touchdown but the Cumberland Panthers fought back with their first touchdown, by AK Ismail. The Mustangs turned the game into a hard battle with another great touchdown. The first half finished with not one, but two perfect touchdown throws to Panthers’ Kodey Williamson. The last half of the game was fought hard by the Mustangs but the Panthers’ defense led by Yannick Jerome-Lemieux, Jadyn Hendricks and Hayden Fox would not allow any more points. The Panthers sealed their win with one more touchdown by Tyler Johnson for a final score of 30-12.
The Bell Warriors Mosquito Team held off a persistent Kanata Knights squad to win their seventh game of the season 34-0. Kyle Crabtree had a key interception on defence while Eric Conley carried the load to end the game.
Peewee
The Bell Warriors team played the most exciting game of the year Wednesday night against the Nepean Redskins. With fantastic running from both teams to pump up the score, huge defensive stops in the fourth quarter had the game hinged on a failed two point conversion attempt by the Redskins. The Warriors ran out the clock for a 49-48 win and first place.
The Bell Warriors played again Sunday against the Kanata Knights and came away with victory to seal first place in the West. Great running, especially by Dilan Parry (209 yds.) and stingy defence, exemplified by Andrew Beattie, paved the way to a solid 47-13 display.
Bantam
The Myers Riders defeated a game, but undermanned, Bel-Air Lions squad. The Riders’ victory was highlighted by Nick Urbani’s interception return for a TD. For the Lions, Paul Lukusa provided strong line play.
The Gloucester South Raider had a 42-0 victory over the Orleans Bengals, Justin Poitras threw for 3 TD’s, 1 each to Dimitri Vaillancourt, Darius Beckford, and Skyler Alexander. Defensive standouts were Will Karam with a sack and pick-6, Lascelles Lawrence, Deion Banze, and ‘Moose’ Kari. Ethan Pitcher blocked a punt.
The Gloucester South Raiders also defeated the East Ottawa Generals 63-7.  Chris Leblanc scored for the Generals, Markell Keedi had 2 interceptions and Xavier Hebert had a fumble recovery.
The Bell Warriors blanked the Nepean Redskins 39-0 in a tough fought battle Friday night. Defensively, Mitch Henselwood led the solid stand while on offense, the Warriors running backs Jesse Skucas (2 TD’s) and Charlie Keenan (3 TD’s) both ran with confidence. Warrior’s QB Tyler Scott rounded out the scoring with a TD pass to Quinn Stewart.
