ONT (OFSAA): Mpenga powers Eagles past CFC # 20 Eagles for first Bowl win

Steve Mpenga dashed into the end zone twice  as Don Bosco Eagles defeated CFC # 20 Cardinal Newman Cardinals, 21-11 in the OFSAA Bowl Festival on Friday.

Although it was a cold day, the sun was shining and it was perfect weather for the Eagles. After the tough loss in the Metro Bowl last year, the Eagles were determined to come back strong in 2013.

Early in the first quarter, the Eagles got on the scoreboard first courtesy of an 11 yard run into the end zone by Mpenga.

In the second quarter, the Cardinals were able to overtake the lead after a one yard touchdown score by Matt Metcalfe.

At halftime, the Cardinals were ahead 9-6 over the Eagles.

However the second half was run entirely by the Eagles as quarterback Aaron Scott threw a 40 yard touchdown pass to Neko Hamilton to go up 14-9.

The fate of the game was sealed by another running touchdown by Mpenga, who led  the Eagles to their first OFSAA win in only two appearances.

The Eagles defense was led by Deshawn Stevens who had 11.5 tackles in the game.
