Danny Harris began his career ten years ago with the East Side Eagles of the Manitoba Major Football League (MMFL). At 5’7, Danny has always been undersized and underrated so he found himself always playing defensive back. Harris started and won an Adams championship in 2009, in his third year of football. He suited up for U16 East and Black, went to the finals with black but lost.

Currently, Danny is a member of the Kildonan East Reivers in the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL). Last year, in Danny’s junior campaign the Reivers didn’t have a quarterback going into the season so Danny stepped up to help his team. Harris earned the coaches offence award starting at quarterback and defensive back. Going into his final year, Danny would like to play quarterback and defensive back again.

“I’ve done lots more QB training this offseason to be the best I can be I really want to play DB at the next level wherever that is”.

As far as recruitment goes Danny hasn’t talked to any CIS schools yet, only Canadian Junior Football League teams like the Winnipeg Rifles and Victoria Raiders.

“I really want to play DB at the next level wherever that is I’ve been talking to some junior teams but hopefully looking for CIS or Dvision 2”.

There wasn’t any specific moment highlighted from last season, Danny chose being a leader as his highlight.

“My highlight of last season would be being more of a leader and communicated with my teammates also using my football skills to full potential,” explained Harris.

The most influential people in Danny’s life have been his parents. Danny’s parents have let him go to any training and camps to make him a better player, “they are the best thing”.

In football, Danny’s coach Jason Hawkins has been the most influential towards him.

“In my life football related would have to be my head coach Jason Hawkins, he really tries to be 1 on 1 with his players on and off the field not only encourages us to be a better player but all around a better person in life”.

At this moment Danny’s plans are to take football as far as he can. He’s still undecided on what he would like to take in university, but he’s thinking he would like to become a gym teacher or go to law school.

Danny’s offseason training regimen consists of Recruit Ready summer, winter and 7v 7 programs. With Kildonan Athletics Club Danny lifts weights and does cardio, helping with speed agility. Danny is working towards being faster, stronger and better than ever for next year.

In conclusion Danny said, “I’m a hard worker, football is my passion I don’t know what I would be doing without it”.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
