Spears dominate Ironmen

Jordon Maxim tossed three touchdown passes to spark the visiting Niagara Spears varsity football team to a 35-0 win over the Hamilton Ironmen in Ontario Varsity Football League action.

Maxim connected on scoring strikes with Andrew Oreskovich (27 yards), Brandon Solanski (54 yards) and Lekan Idowu (38 yards) as the Spears improved to 3-1 on the season.

Jurrell Gaddishaw adding a three-yard rushing major for the Spears, Mike Domagala booted a 21-yard field goal and Niagara’s defence recorded a pair of safeties.

The Spears are at London Saturday before hosting the Halton Cowboys Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas More high school in Hamilton.

JUNIOR SPEARS 41 IRONMEN 8

The Niagara Spears junior varsity football team evened its OVFL record at 2-2 with a 41-8 road win over the Hamilton Ironmen.

Scoring majors for the Spears were: Zyer Harris, five-yard run and 45-yard punt return; Austin Whetton, 34-yard run; Jordan Terrio, 56-yard run; Nathan Kennedy, 30-yard TD pass from Noah Lane; and, Austin Whetton, 43-yard run

Daniel Skuse scored the lone major for Hamilton.

The Spears are at London Saturday before hosting before hosting Markham Sunday, July 7th at 1 p.m. at Ron Joyce Stadium.
