Turnovers cost Warriors

The Varsity Mississauga Warriors fell victim to their own mistakes in a loss against the Essex Ravens.

After the Warriors fumbled their opening punt attempt, Ravens running back Elijah Fera ran in his first of two scores on the day from 27 yards out.  The Ravens second touchdown of the opening frame was set up by another Warrior turnover, this time a fumble by running back Jahvari Bennett.  This time receiver Martez Lambert was the one who capitalized, scoring on a 60-yard pass and catch.

The second quarter looked like the Warriors may turn things around when power back Jonathan McEachron plunged in from the goal line to put the hosts within seven.  The CFC turning point may have came late in the half when the Warriors fumbled a snap that lead to a Ravens recovery in the end zone, and a 21 to 7 halftime lead.

The second half saw a Warrior turnover again translate into Ravens points when Mikey Filipic scored on a 10-yard touchdown.

Bennett ran for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter while Timothie Nicholas caught a three-yard pass for another Warriors major.

Essex won by the final of 35 to 21.
