AFL: Dalhousie Tigers edge UNBSJ Seawolves 21-7

Riding an offensive explosion by running back Ting Li Hsiegh, the Dalhousie Tigersran out 21 – 7 winners over the UNB Saint John Seawolves.

Hsiegh ran for 94 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown run to open the scoring, while quarterback Brendan Festerygawent 7/13 for 91 yards in the air.

The Tigers opened up the game with a punt block on the Seawolves first drive, picking up the ball on the 2 yard line, with Hsiegh punching the ball into the endzone.

Rob Wilson converted the extra point, the kicker was 3/3 on the night for the extra point.

The energetic start continued for the Tigers as they recovered a short kick on the ensuing kickoff, before getting into place for a field goal attempt.

The kick went wide, but a fumble by Saint John had the Tigers recovering the ball on the UNB 7 yard line.

This time it was Tristan Jennings who would run the ball in, giving the Tigers a quick 14-0 lead through the first quarter.

Defence took over for both sides into the second quarter, with both sides unable to get into the redone and add points. With a minute left in the half, Ahmed Alwarith picked off a Seawolves thrown, running 40 yards for the touchdown.

With a 21 – 0 lead at Halftime, the Tigers would ride strong defence to take the win; the only points against coming on an interception late in the game by Rob Fox, who ran it 35 yards for the touchdown.

In beating the Seawolves, the Tigers picked up their first road win in five attempts dating back to the 2010 season and also earned their first win over the UNB Saint John Seawolves since they entered the Atlantic Football League
