Offensive Player of the Week

Wide receiver Jordan Catterall of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 15, 2013.

Catterall, a 5-foot-10, fourth-year business student from Oakville, Ont., scored two touchdowns and led the team in receiving in Saturday’s 35-18 win over the Concordia Stingers. His two majors (50 yards and 85 yards) came in the fourth quarter on big passing plays that helped increase the X-Men lead.

Catterall finished with six total receptions in the game for 157 yards. He currently leads the AUS with 195 yards receiving through two games.

Defensive back Demetrius Ferguson of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week.

A second-year business student in his fifth year of eligibility hailing from Nassau, Bahamas, Ferguson had two interceptions in the X-Men’s 35-18 win over Concordia on Saturday.

His 103-yard interception touchdown return in the first quarter gave StFX a 7-0 lead and was the second longest in StFX history and the fourth longest of all time in the Atlantic conference.

Ferguson also had a forced fumble and 4.5 tackles (four solo and one assisted) in the win to help improve the X-Men record to 2-0.

Academic program: BSc Human Kinetics

Height and weight: 6’2”, 198lbs

 

Kicker Hayden Peters of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week.

 

Peters, a second-year human kinetics student from Inverary, Ont., had 12 punts for 479 total yards, averaging 39.9 yards per punt in the X-Men’s 35-18 win over Concordia on Saturday. Four of his 12 punts were also downed inside the 20-yard line.

 

He also had five kickoffs for 301 yards for a 60.2 average. While on defence, he contributed 7.5 tackles in the game (seven solo and one assisted).
