Last year the U-16 Coquitlam Falcons made British Columbia proud by capturing the national flag championship after first securing the provincial title to earn the right to represent the province.
Evidently they weren’t quite finished yet.
The U-18 Coquitlam Spider Monkeys, which boasts four players from last year’s Falcons’ team along with returning coaches Eddie Ferg and Paul Lancaster, took home this year’s provincial title at the championship held this past Sunday at Vancouver’s Carnarvon Park.
The members of the 2012 U-18 Spider Monkeys are Malcolm Lee, Tristan Sands, Chase Malcolm, Kevin Marshall, Jalen Jana, Jake Bye and Nick Landolt.
The BCCFA will crown four more flag champions this weekend at the Capital News Centre in Kelowna when the championships for the U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 divisions, respectively, are held.
The round robin pool play will start on Saturday, June 9 with the U-10 and U-14, respectively, getting underway at 9:15 am and the U-12 and U-16, respectively, starting at 10 am.
On Sunday, the playoffs and consolation play will get going at 9 am with the tournament closing and medal presentations slated for 2 pm.
