BC high school quarter-final notable performances: Irons, Davis, Lyles, Blackwell and Lee pound the rock

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

 

  • W.J. Mouat RB Maleek Irons rushed 17 times for 243 yards and had four touchdowns helping lift his team to a 50-22 win over Handsworth. Irons’ touchdowns came on rushes of 98, 2, 58 and 4 yards, respectively.
  • W.J. Mouat QB Hunter Struthers went 5-of-5 for 106 yards throwing one TD pass to TE Jake Firlotte, who caught four passes for 99 yards.
  • Mt. Douglas RB Marcus Davis rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s 56-24 win over St. Thomas More. Davis’ touchdowns came on rushes of 65, 4, 45 and 1 yard(s), respectively. He also caught a 56-yard pass for a touchdown.
  • St. Thomas More QB Malcolm Lee passed for 120 yards throwing one touchdown, and also rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s loss.
  • Lord Tweedsmuir RB Jamel Lyles had 24 carries for 308 yards scoring three touchdowns in his team’s 34-29 win over Vancouver College. His touchdown runs came on rushes of 80, 52 and 3 yards, respectively. He also had a 52-yard pick six in the victory.
  • Vancouver College RB Robbie Welch had 14 carries for 80 yards scoring two touchdowns in a losing effort.
  • Mission QB Evan Horton had 101 rushing yards and also passed for 95 yards while recording five tackles on defence in his team’s 25-6 win over Frank Hurt. He had two rushing touchdowns and one touchdown toss.
  • South Delta QB Lucas Kirk went 14-of-23 throwing for 297 and five touchdowns – four of them going to REC Jack McDonald – while also rushing for 97 yards and another major in his team’s 46-20 win over Rick Hansen.
  • Rick Hansen QB Alex Ho threw three touchdown passes in a 46-20 losing effort to South Delta.
  • Carson Graham RB A.J. Blackwell rushed 23 times for 225 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s 35-7 win over Vernon.
