BC PROVINCIAL FLAG TEAMS SET TO KICKOFF THE 2013 FLAG FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ON FRIDAY

BURNABY, B.C. – British Columbia’s two provincial flag teams will begin their pursuit of gold at the 2013 Flag Football National Championships taking place at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan on Friday, July 25, 2013.

The tournament runs from July 25 to July 28, 2013.

British Columbia is fielding an under-16 boys team and an under-18 girls team at the annual tournament which is now in its seventh year. British Columbia did not field a team at last year’s competition but, two years ago at the 2011 tournament, saw their under-16 boys team capture the gold medal.

This year’s under-16 boys team is comprised of members of the 2013 BC Community Football Association provincial flag championship team, the North Delta Broncos.

The under-16 boys team is coached by former BC Lions guard Bobby Singh and is managed by Glenn Pencer.

The players are: Devin Patterson (New Westminster), Tyler Moxin (Richmond), Gabriel Saklofsky (Richmond), Drew Blair (Surrey), Bobby Singh Jr. (Richmond), Jakob Desousa (Delta), Austin Blum (Delta) and Nolan McMurchy (Langley).

The under-18 girls team was selected through a tryout process. The team is coached by Devin Arsenault and is managed by Paul Lancaster and Bianca Snickars.

The players are: Riley Lancaster (Port Coquitlam), Jill Calvert (Tsawwassen), Lindsay Corbould (Port Coquitlam), Taylor-Anne Crevier (Maple Ridge), Sarah Shelke (Prince George), Sasha Cardinal (Prince George), Betty Cardinal (Prince George) and Yu Jung Chang (Coquitlam).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
