The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the “BC Lions Players of the Week” for Week 1 of the 2013 season.
The Okanagan Sun started their redemption year on the right foot at home with a 65-10 victory over the Valley Huskers. The Sun used two quarterbacks who alternated quarters. Theo Deezer in his first BCFC game was terrific, playing the second and fourth quarters. He would finish 11 of 15 for 173 yards and connect on three touchdown passes. His efforts have named him the “BC Lions Offensive Player of the Week.”
On the Island during Week 1 the Westshore Rebels would play a tough, hard nose style of defense against their rival; the VI Raiders. The Rebels were led by the “BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week,” linebacker Chris Pastro. The Victoria native would make five tackles, one sack, have four assists and one interception return of 39 yards.
The defending BCFC Langley Rams picked up where they left off last season with a shutout of the Kamloops Broncos. Kicker Steven Thomas collected 19 of the 51 points the Rams would score. The Surrey native was a perfect four for four in field goals, hitting from 18, 22, 24 and 19 yards. He would make four punts for a total of 107 yards, six kickoffs for 385 yards and was a perfect five for five in converts. He’s been named the “BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week.”
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
