#CFC10 CEGEP (coll. div. 1) preview [2]: Redemption and top teams face off

Cégep Limoilou Titans (0-1) vs Cégep Garneau Élans (0-1)
The Garneau Élans should come out on top considering their loss last week to the 2015 Champions on a last minute field goal. With Jacob Vachon and Mathieu Blanchette catching balls and returning kicks, the Élans’ offence is capable of scoring enough points to win. The Garneau defence, led by LB Frédéric Pongo, should handle the running game pretty well, but will have to be disciplined to stop Limoilou’s top receiver, Mathieu Robitaille. Robitaille, a member of the Junior National team that won Gold this summer, accumulated 155 yards and a touchdown last week against a strong Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy defence.

Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Géants (0-1) vs Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons (0-1)
After a punishing welcome from Collège André-Grasset, the Géants should be wound-up to face the Faucons. The Géants are solid on offence with #CFC100 QB Dimitri Morand, a member of the Junior National Team that won gold in Harbin China this past July, and receivers, Hugo Dupuis and Jordan Duprey, who was also a member of the Junior National Team this summer. The Faucons are going to need some production from their offence to keep the Géants offence off the field. This should be a good match-up which should see the Géants win.

Collège André-Grasset Phénix (1-0) vs Cégep Vieux-Montréal Spartiates (1-0)
The Spartiates defence will have their hands full trying to stop the Phénix offence led by RB Samuel Makwanda, who averaged 6.2 yards per carry last week. This clash, of a well prepared Grasset Offence versus the skilled Spartiates defence, should be an exciting game to watch. Vieux-Montréal’s offence is led by #CFC100 receiver transformed into QB, Julien Bourassa who is learning the ropes of the position at this level as fast as he can. He may not be ready yet to create enough momentum and points for his unit to outscore the Phénix defence, led by #CFC100 DE Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal who just came off a great game last week with two sacks. The Phénix should grab the ‘W’.

Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars (1-0) vs Collège Montmorency Nomades (0-1)
The Cougars should dominate this game with their highly skilled offence. Two of their starting offensive linemen were members of the Junior National Team this summer and #CFC100 OT Patrick Davis who has already committed to Syracuse University. The Nomades offence is no match for the Champlain defence, led by DB Sean Côté and DE Michael Brodrique.

Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (1-0) vs Vanier College Cheetahs (1-0)
The highlight game of the weekend. To beat Vanier on their home turf, Le Notre-Dame defence will have to stop Vanier RB Patrick Charles who accumulated a total of 249 yards on offence. Leading the offence is QB Dimitrios Sinodinos, who stacked 263 yards in the air, with the help of REC Samuel Emilus who was good for 133 of those yards and a touchdown. Le Notre-Dame’s offence will have to prepare for #CFC100  LB Kean Harelimana, 6 total tackles, who terrorized the Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons offence last week. On the other hand, the Cheetahs defence will face one of the best receivers of this league in Vincent Forbes-Mombleau, who teared the Limoilou defence apart last week with 11 catches for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. Le Notre-Dame’s defence is led by #CFC100 DB Christophe Bouchard, 2 tackles and 1 interception last week, and LB Gabriel Pelletier. Winner of this game takes the number one spot, and odds are on Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy.
