The first game is always filled with anxiety because every team is the best until that whistle blows. Here is the ranking for all ten teams following week 1 of competition.
#1 Collège Notre-Dame-de-Foy Le Notre-Dame (CNDF) 1-0 – Still on top with a great offensive display against the Titans. Great performance from the defensive unit, making this team a very well balanced team.
#2 Champlain Regional College Cougars (CRC) 1-0 – The defending champions came away with a tough win against a well prepared Cégep Garneau team. The talent in their offensive backfield will help them win some games if the defence stays healthy.
#3 Vanier College Cheetahs (VC) 1-0 – A well balanced team with a lot of depth. The Cheetahs secured the #3 spot with a win over the Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons. The return of QB Dimitri Sinodinos and the running of RB Patrick Charles helped the offence put up 31 points.
#4 Collège André-Grasset Phénix (CAG) 1-0 – Year number two in the league and with a top recruiting class, the Cégep de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Géants were no match for this evenly talented team.
#5 Cégep du Vieux-Montréal Spartiates (CVM) 1-0 – A soon to be good offence and a well prepared defence came back with a victory. Look for the Spartiates to continue in their ascension as their young QB gains confidence.
#6 Cégep Garneau Élans (CG) 0-1 – The Élans are a much better team than last year. The outcome against the Cougars was changed by a game ending field goal. They are contenders.
#7 Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons (CLL) 0-1 – With a new QB at the helm, the Faucons struggled against a strong Vanier defensive front. The defence could not stop the Vanier running game. They did face a good team and they have the potential to win a few games.
#8 Cégep de Limoilou Titans (CL) 0-1 – The Titans squared off pretty well in the first half, but were outmatched physically in the second. Going down one spot this week. The CNDF offence was difficult to stop and offensively, Limoilou did move the ball, but shot themselves in the foot with a couple of mistakes.
#9 Cégep de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Géants (CSJR) 0-1 – The Géants have so much potential on offence, including star QB Dimitri Morand, that they are going to get better has the season progresses. Although, they do need some fine tuning on defence.
#10 Collège Montmorency Nomades (ACL) 0-1 – The Nomades offence struggled and the defence showed potential. The young QB can only get better.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
